On our last week of freedom, before school started again for the year, we decided to head to the Lion Park for some animal fun!
We have two friends staying with us for 6 weeks, so they were a great excuse to go find some African animals. . .We took two cars, and all of us, plus a volunteer from TLC piled in!
The Lion Park has a cub section where you can go in and pet the lion cubs. My kids always love this, and this time we also had Nomusa, Mario, my friends Amanda and Denis as well as Jayne from TLC sharing in the magic of loving on baby lions :)
Musa thought they were pretty great
Sihle was in love
Pammy was excited, but a little wary
Mario, simply thrilled!
Nomusa looked like she'd been petting lions all her life
Then it was time to feed the Giraffe
Mr Giraffe seemed quite taken in by Denis' Irish lilt
Amanda seemed to have him equally spellbound
By golly, we have two Giraffe whisperers. . .
Me, me, me! Eat my food!
What a tongue. . .
Then Mr Giraffe decided to join our afternoon Picnic - what a
loooooooooong neck you have!
So, that's a small taste of the fun we had at the Lion Park
What a fabulous day!
Now for a 360 shift.

Doesn't that look amazing! Look how tall and bushy my plants are.
Now, maybe I should mention a little something. . .
Those are actually all weeds. Yes, I am a disgrace to the gardening world!
You see, life is busy, and weeds, well they like to grow - a LOT!
Sooooo, the bigger they grew, the less enthusiastic I became,
BUT
my dear and wonderful Mom knew that deep, deep, deep, down, (REALLY deep down), what I wanted, more than anything. . .
was a beautiful, dug up, weed free garden. . .
AND
I had the most wonderful friends arrive who worked magic!!!!
Above is a pile of rocks Denis dug out of my garden,
and here he is digging up all the dirt (notice the HUGE pile of weeds in the foreground)!
The best part - he did it SO cheerfully!
Denis has three shadows most days -
here Pammy is following the good example of her mentor :)
Musa was helping to make dirt castles. . .
Sihle was cheering everyone on!
Yes, I know!
I'm cute enough to eat!
All the little ones so eager to help plant the tomato and pepper plants.
Then it was time for their first drink - the plants, not my kids :)
And so. . . . . . . .
We have Sweet Basil, Green peppers, Cherry Tomatoes, Big tomatoes, and lettuce
Later in the week we'll add beans, pees, spinach and zucchini. . .
Mommy dear, I hope your heart is now happy - your grandkids are watching the miracle of life!
